Lukesch Highlights Wins a Creative Excellence Award!

August 22nd, 2007 . by admin

For the first time we decided to enter the international WEVA (Wedding and Event Videographers Association) awards competition. Unfortunately we found out about the deadline with too little time left so we were only able to enter a handful of clips. Well, we just received news that Amy & Alex’s highlights won a WEVA Creative Excellence Awards!

The Highlights are up!

August 15th, 2007 . by admin

Normally we put up the ceremony, preps, etc and leave the highlights for last. The problem with Amy & Alex’s wedding video is that there is just so much great footage that we couldn’t wait to get started. On top of that, we wanted to enter Amy & Alex’s highlights into an international competition for wedding videographers, however the deadline for entries was the week after their wedding.

After several days of straight editing, we came up with a first draft of their highlights. When we got a chance to get some sleep and come back and look at it again, there was a general consensus that, while it was very good, it could be even better. So, with a day to go before the deadline I started cutting a new version, not sure if we would be able to get it done in time. With the help of Michael proofing the clip online every couple of hours as I was editing, we managed to create, what I would consider to be, hands down, our absolute best highlights in terms of the cinematography. We also finished it just in time and it was sent off with Purolator yesterday evening 15 minutes before their cutoff time for shipments.

Below you will find the final version of their highlights. It is the one we feel has the most emotional impact and flow throughout the piece. I will add version 2 in a couple days so you can see what the rough cut looked like with a different song.

Enjoy!

The Super 8 Film

August 14th, 2007 . by admin

A while back when Amy first contacted us she asked if we could shoot part of her day in super 8 film. We had always considered offering super 8 but we weren’t sure how many couples would really appreciate the look and feel of film enough to have us go to the extra work of bringing an ancient film camera along and having to switch rolls of film every 2 minutes of taping. Amy had requested that the super 8 footage be shot in a home movie sort of style, which is a very interesting contrast to the style the rest of her video was shot in.

Trash the Dress - with Amy & Alex

July 9th, 2007 . by admin

amylooWhat an awesome shoot! Amy was ready for anything - and so was her dress!

Made entirely of silk, this dress won’t be seeing too much more action after this shoot. We started off easy. The first location was a relatively clean field with hay bales. The next location got a little grungier, with a little dirt and a lot of junk. The last location was a little moist…

Look at Max go.

June 25th, 2007 . by admin

This is one of the last clips we will be posting on Amy and Alex’s site. This is a dancing clip that probably features the guests more than any other part of the video. Hopefully we can get Max to chime in on this one and tell us how he can do all of those crazy moves!

The Dance with the Parents

June 25th, 2007 . by admin

Normally we would just show the highlights of the dances when the bride dances with her father and the groom with his mother. A four minute dance would then be shown in 60-90 seconds, which fits very well with the rest of the video. For this dance clip, I thought Iwould try keeping it at its original length and just including a couple flashback segments featuring Amy and her Dad, and another with Alex and his mom.

I’de love to know what everybody thinks of this style for a dance like this.

The Preparations

June 18th, 2007 . by admin

As we post more and more of Amy & Alex’s video you can start to see how it all starts to fit together. The preps will be used as the starting point of their video, which will lead ito their photo-session (coming soon), and then their cinematic ceremony and the reception. The highlights and super 8 clips would then be used as special features on their DVD. The end result is a 40-50 minute highly edited and very artistic video that is entertaining throughout and contains so many special moments throughout the day.

The Ceremony

June 15th, 2007 . by admin

Amy & Alex opted for a cinematic style ceremony. Rather than a full length documentary type video, their ceremony is shortened to about 50-60% of its original length to focus in on those big moments.
